Description

MAPLE GROVE, Texas, June 14, 2024 - GUARDIAN RFID, the global leader in inmate management and tracking systems, proudly announces that the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, in Midland, Texas, has officially gone live with GUARDIAN RFID to digitally transform its county jail. With this implementation, GUARDIAN RFID will empower correctional staff to efficiently manage, monitor, and track its inmate population.

The Midland County Detention Center, originally built in the mid-1990’s with expansions added in 2008 and additional housing added in 2013, faced growing challenges as its inmate population increased. The staff struggled to maintain compliance as they heavily relied on manual paper logs.

Now that Midland County is constructing a new facility, the agency turned to GUARDIAN RFID to maximize staff accountability and gain data-driven compliance through the world’s most-trusted inmate tracking system. It quickly became evident to Midland Co. staff that GUARDIAN RFID modules including Security Checks, Movements, Meals, Recreation, and Headcounts, would revolutionize their agency’s operations and refocus priorities through the advanced technology system.

GUARDIAN RFID’s Implementation team, particularly Senior Project Manager Courtney Ganley, collaborated closely with Lieutenant Paul Bauer to ensure all unique needs were met. By expediting the implementation fee, utilizing an existing network, and having all necessary measures already secured in place, the implementation process was rapidly accelerated and resulted in an impressive turnaround timeframe of just 36 days in total. GUARDIAN RFID takes great pride in both its team and the Midland Co. team for making this swift and successful implementation process possible.

By deploying SPARTAN, an ultra-rugged Android device from GUARDIAN RFID, which runs Mobile Command XR software, along with RFID Wristbands and hardened RFID tags, Midland Co. Jail staff will have the ability to capture a wide range of inmate activities, behavioral observations, inmate movements, programs attendance, court transports, and more. The GUARDIAN RFID system will help jail staff collect data faster and more comprehensively than their manual-labored tools.

During the four-day on-site training, GUARDIAN RFID Product Trainer Brandon Stout recognized the staff’s excitement to utilize a tool that empowers the correctional officers to be more efficient and effective, including strong enthusiasm from Sheriff David Criner himself. One of the staff members in particular, Officer Carbajal, expressed gratitude towards the ability to log everything in the moment rather than waiting for computer access or having to write everything on paper. He further emphasized how much he appreciated being able to keep track of where all of his inmates were at the palm of his hand, and not carrying around roster sheets with illegible writing.

Midland Co. staff are committed to improving its compliance and ensuring that they are accurately logging their interactions with the inmates. With GUARDIAN RFID fully implemented, Midland County Jail strives to have successful jail inspections and maintain the highest standards of facility safety and security.
