RFID Journal's published, "El Monte Police Dept. Expands IoT and RFID System for Security” highlighting GUARDIAN RFID’s involvement with El Monte Police Department’s inmate-management solutions.

The El Monte Police Department, located in El Monte, California, has been using GUARDIAN RFID’s technology for its safety and security purposes. “GUARDIAN RFID has provided staff accountability through proof of presence, defensible reporting and documentation, intelligent operational analysis, as well as other customizable system features,” says Kelly Martin, the department’s custody supervisor. “As a department, we identified the need to advance our operations. That would require moving past the manual paper-and-pen method, which we saw as an archaic form of documentation.”

Martin explains how GUARDIAN RFID’s platform has played a role in saving lives, preventing escapes, and avoiding potential compliance violations in his facility. He states, “I’m confident that GUARDIAN RFID has played a viable role in all these areas and then some. Since implementation, our division has seen a positive increase in safety and security compliance checks. In fact, having the custody officers interact with our inmates more often helps us proactively meet the needs of our population.”

These enhancements contribute to the overall care, custody, and control of the facility’s operations. The El Monte corrections department is now expanding its use of the GUARDIAN RFID system to include facial recognition during inmate release as well as implement the Command Cloud platform in the near future.
