Description

MAPLE GROVE, Minn., November 3, 2023 — GUARDIAN RFID, a global leader in offender management and tracking systems, announces the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center, Texas, has deployed GUARDIAN RFID in its facility with an average daily population of 60 youth residents.

The Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center has taken a groundbreaking step towards modernizing its facility operations by selecting GUARDIAN RFID to help optimize its youth management objectives, security rounds, activity logging, automation tracking, and compliance with Texas standards.

The decision to choose GUARDIAN RFID was based on the need to ultimately reduce paper logging for special management inmates as well as ensure supervisor checks were being conducted accurately. The staff understood the importance of needing a more advanced and comprehensive activity logging solution to replace the Juvenile Center’s guard tour system, Guard1, and its data collector known as the PIPE. While using their previous guard tour system, the staff encountered several issues with reporting time sequences accurately (i.e. who ate a meal and who did not). Additionally, reports did not identify which staff members were late during checks, necessitating manual video footage review. These laboring challenges led the facility staff to reevaluate their technology and prompted the exploration of another solution to modernize the Juvenile Center.

Now, the implementation of the GUARDIAN RFID system will help jail staff collect data faster and more accurately than its previous manual tools. The upgrade includes youth meal offerings, program attendance, and medication administration records while increasing compliance efficiency with Texas juvenile standards. By streamlining an array of ultra-rugged Android devices called SPARTANs, along with hardened RFID tags and ID Cards to manage, monitor, and track youth residents, GUARDIAN RFID is bringing a new era of efficiency and accuracy to the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center.
