Description

MAPLE GROVE, Minn., May 12, 2023 — Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota, has selected GUARDIAN RFID to roll out its inmate management system to streamline the capture of a wide range of inmate activities, behavioral observations, inmate movements, court transports, and positive ID headcounts that works with the county’s existing jail management system (JMS).

With an average daily population of over 260 inmates, the Dakota County Sheriff's Office staff have been searching for a solution to increase accountability and seamlessly streamline data collection in their facility. Before discovering GUARDIAN RFID, the staff manually inputted its JMS records, dedicating extensive hours to this labor-intensive process. This manual, siloed approach to logging information didn’t allow for internal staff collaboration and operational awareness. Dakota Co. realized the need for a platform to bolster efficiency in its daily operations by unifying the execution of its inmate management objectives, using RFID, the Cloud, and mobile to automate actionable, security-critical workflows.

Taking a deep sense of pride in their motto “Be More”, the Dakota County Minnesota Law Enforcement Center is one of the state leaders in inmate programming, including a program named “Bridging the Gap” where career criminals can paint murals that connect the inmates to the outside world. Employing the “Be More” motto not only for their inmates but also in the facility’s daily operations, the Dakota County staff looks forward to going live with GUARDIAN RFID and immediately utilizing its Security Checks and Observations modules to encourage officers to complete additional checks and lower their round timing predictability.

As soon as the GUARDIAN RFID technology goes into effect, facility administration will terminate the manual JMS input method to prevent staff from duplicating their efforts and encourage staff to entirely focus their efforts on learning the ease of time tracking with the new, upgraded technology. Being an early adopter of direct supervision, Dakota County will appreciate the ability to collect data faster and more accurately than its previous manual tools. By streamlining an array of ruggedized, corrections-grade Android devices called SPARTANs, along with RFID Hard Tags and RFID enabled Wristbands to manage, monitor, and inmates, GUARDIAN RFID is poised to bring a stage of efficiency and accountability to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.
