Description

MAPLE GROVE, Minn., August 17, 2021 —GUARDIAN RFID, the global leader in inmate management and tracking systems, today announced that Surry County Sheriff’s Office in Dobson, North Carolina—has selected GUARDIAN RFID for its county jail to manage, monitor, and track its inmate population.

Surry County has an average daily population of over 100 inmates. Prior to learning about GUARDIAN RFID, Surry County used paper logs, Guard1 Plus, an iButton-based guard tour solution that included data collectors known as the PIPE, and its jail management system from Southern Software to manage security rounds, inmate movements, and daily activity logging. This manual, siloed approach to logging information lacked internal staff collaboration and operational awareness. Surry Co. staff realized the need for a platform that unifies the execution of their inmate management objectives, using RFID, the Cloud, and mobile to automate actionable security-critical workflows.

Once SPARTAN, an ultra-rugged Android device that runs Mobile Command software, along with RFID Wristbands and hardened RFID tags are deployed, Surry County correctional officers will be able to capture a wide range of inmate activities, behavioral observations, inmate movements, program attendance, and court transports. Mobile Command will also enable staff to capture image and video assets during cell checks uploaded to OnDemand, the GUARDIAN RFID Cloud. OnDemand will allow staff to gain real-time situational awareness and monitor security rounds and positive ID headcount performance.
