MAPLE GROVE, Minn., June 15, 2019 — GUARDIAN RFID, a global leader in inmate management and tracking systems, announces the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office (Mansfield, Louisiana) will deploy GUARDIAN RFID in its 110-bed facility in the coming year.

Located over 200 miles north of Baton Rouge, DeSoto Parish will be digitally transforming its inmate management objectives with GUARDIAN RFID to automate its security rounds, inmate movements, given supplies, medication passes, and other activity logging in real-time to streamline compliance with Louisiana standards.

Deploying the Weapon of Mass Data Collection

Before the GUARDIAN RFID closing agreement, DeSoto Parish used paper logs as well as an iButton-based guard tour solution that included data collectors, known as the PIPE, to track the activities occurring inside the facility walls. They noticed after some time using this method that they were wasting large amounts of time by drawing insights from their logs to build reports. They realized their administrative cost and labor made their tracking capabilities weaker and weaker. Now that DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office will deploy GUARDIAN RFID within its facility, team members will use RFID wristbands for facility-wide inmate identification, tracking, and management capabilities to automate a wide range of data collection and reporting logged at the point of responsibility.
