What Is Mobile Command XR?
Mobile inmate tracking software is a handheld system that records inmate activity at the point of responsibility so documentation is created where the observation happens instead of after the fact.
Three pieces make a mobile inmate tracking system work:
1) A rugged handheld an officer carries the whole shift

Scanning is the whole interaction. An RFID credential on a wristband, card, or Hard Tag identifies the inmate or location, pulls the profile, and timestamps the event. Range: three feet. The officer has to be at the cell.

Mobile Inmate Tracking Software: Common Questions
Yes. Mobile Command XR was designed offline first. Housing units are built from concrete and steel, which is hard on any network, so the app keeps recording in dead zones and syncs when signal returns. Officers never stop documenting, and nobody has to dock a device to make the record real. Offline function is the first thing most facilities test, which is exactly why the design starts there.
GUARDIAN RFID uses passive high-frequency RFID at 13.56 MHz, the same band as NFC. Passive tags have no battery to die and no readers to wire into a unit. They draw power from the officer's device, which has to reach the tag. That is a choice, not a limitation. Active RFID promises continuous location, but it costs more per tag, needs batteries replaced, and needs a signal that carries through concrete and steel. Passive requires an officer at the cell. That is the point.
Mobile Command XR offers five login methods. Username and password, an RFID fob, an RFID card, single sign-on through Microsoft Entra ID, or facial recognition through VisionOps. Most agencies choose the RFID card, because officers already carry one and a tap beats typing a password on a handheld. A card deactivates the moment it is reported lost. Facial recognition login is opt-in, which keeps facilities clear where state law governs it.
